November 20, 2009 - Still under a lot of major construction.

Hello everyone and welcome to an infant version of Anti Tourism NYC! As you can see, we're still working out a lot of kinks for the site. We're still in the process of building the site, which is easier said than done for a site whose goal is to cover an entire city! So please stay with us as we continue constructing the site. You'll see many major changes to arrive in the upcoming months, like:

  • Better implemented pages with blog functions (like a comment section for articles.)
  • Images... more and more images! And maybe even some video walkthroughs of neighborhoods!
  • More neighborhoods of New York City featured in our "Neighborhoods" spots of each boroughs
  • A heck of a lot more unwritten rules of NYC.
  • Support for RSS feeds, and ability to sign up and be an active member of the site with forums.
  • Overall just a better functioning site!

  • So you're probably asking "why are we running an incomplete site"? Well, for starters, we want to make sure whatever we have now is functioning fine.

But the real reason we're doing this is to get Anti Tourism NYC known to the public world, and above all get people to help us with content for the site! As we mentioned before, it's not easy to develop a site whose goal is to cover all 5 boroughs with information! Plus realize that the small folks affiliated with this site (who for now are like 1-3 folks who are us!) are doing this without any major outside help and doing it out of their own pocket. This is a totally independent entity who hopes that poeple who are down with what we're doing can submit us content.

When we say "submit content", we mean anything ranging from photos of NYC, to information about neighborhoods, activity ideas for each borough, and even entries for our upcoming unwritten manual section! What we especially need help with is content relating to good old Staten Island, which many of you might realize is arguably the most neglected borough of NYC. Plus, as far as we go, none of us really travel there and are not natives of that place (most of us are actually based in Brooklyn.) Plus doing research for things related to Staten Island is proving hard, so if anyone is familar with that borough like the back of their hand, give us a holler! But please, any help would be great for this site so don't hesitate in sending whatever is on your mind. Anything Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island would be appreciated! Click here to submit stuff! And of course, we'll give you a shout-out for your submitted content if we decide to use it for the site!

Finally, we'll end this by asking for feedback thusfar from anyone who wishes to drop us a line. Yeah like we said, the site is still being built, but any form of feedback would be great to let us know if we're at least doing a good job with our idea, as well as letting us know if there is any error or bugs in our site design.

So stay tuned for a lot of changes to come. A lot of these changes will happen hopefully because of you, the viewers, who can submit stuff for us to publish! If you wish to stay in contact with us, please see our register section of the site for info on how you can join our [temporary] mailing list!
