Anti-Tourism NYC summary of The Bronx:
When people talk about The Bronx (not "Bronx", but "The Bronx", also known as "The Boogie Down"), they seem to always associate it with the South Bronx, which is known for it's notority as one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in New York City. However, people seem to get their facts wrong, forgetting that The Bronx is more than just the South Bronx. Well duh, it's an enitre borough that's apart of NYC! The Bronx as a borough is the the fourth of the 5 boroughs and fourth overall most populated.
Here's the thing about The Bronx: it's not as bad as people say it is. We're not saying that it can be walk in paradise, but it's certainly not just one big "hood". Most of The Bronx is in fact very country like, especially in the northern region. It's rather very residential if anything, yet people are so blinded by it's south side.
Living in The Bronx can make you feel like you're not even in a city, because as mentioned, it's very country-like, and also one of the only boroughs physically connected to the upstate side of New York state (Westchester County.) But make no mistakes that The Bronx is definitely not Staten Island! It's very accessible to get to via MTA trains, and has a lot to offer for any visitor or tourist. There is a wealth of culture to be found in The Bronx just waiting for you to enter it. Don't be scared; it's miles away from the notions you've been fed. |
